Who is responsible
AlmostCanadian.ca is operated by AlmostCanadian, a British Columbia (Canada) business. For any question about your personal information: hello@almostcanadian.ca.
What we collect, and why
Your answers and scores on the free test, to show you your result and its review.
Your email, if you ask for a login link: to log you in, send your receipt and remind you 3 days before your access ends.
Your tests, scores, exam date and plan, to run your member area.
For each payment: the date, the amount and the Stripe transaction ID. Your card is processed by Stripe: we never see or store its number.
A hashed fingerprint of your IP address when you ask for a login link, to limit abuse. Your IP address itself is not stored.
The messages you send us through the contact form, which arrive in our mailbox.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses a single cookie, needed for it to work: it keeps your current test, your login and the language you chose (English or French), for 60 days at most. No advertising cookies.
On your first visit, the home page is shown in your browser's language. We do not try to find out where you are.
We count visits and a few steps (test started, test finished, click on the offer, payment) with an analytics tool that sets no cookies and does not track you across sites.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not run targeted advertising.
We use these providers, who only receive what they need: Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), Railway (hosting of the site and database) and Umami or Plausible (cookieless analytics).
These providers may store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it is subject to local laws.
How long we keep it
A test taken without an account is deleted after 30 days.
Login links and the IP fingerprint stored with them are deleted after 7 days.
Your account data is kept until you ask us to delete it. Payment records are kept as long as the law requires for accounting.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information by writing to hello@almostcanadian.ca. We reply within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
